Position Summary

We are seeking a capable, service-oriented IT Support Engineer to provide day-to-day technical support and systems administration for our India operations while working closely with IT personnel and employees in the United States.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux environments, is comfortable troubleshooting technical problems independently, and has a strong customer-service mindset. This position requires someone who is proactive, dependable, organized, and able to diagnose and resolve IT issues with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for employees using Windows and macOS desktops and laptops.

  • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade desktop and laptop hardware, operating systems, and business applications.

  • Administer and support Linux systems, including user accounts, permissions, services, storage, networking, software installation, updates, and basic system security.

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, network, VPN, Wi-Fi, printer, and peripheral issues.

  • Independently investigate technical problems, identify root causes, and implement appropriate solutions with minimal supervision.

  • Provide remote support to users and collaborate with IT personnel located in the United States.

  • Manage user onboarding and offboarding, including computers, accounts, software, access permissions, and other IT resources.

  • Support common productivity and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Jira or similar applications.

  • Assist with identity and access management, including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), MFA, SSO, and access permissions, as applicable.

  • Support local office and user’s remote access networking issues, including basic troubleshooting of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Wi-Fi, VPNs, switches, routers, and firewalls.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot endpoint security tools, antivirus/EDR software, operating system patches, and security updates.

  • Support data backup and recovery solutions, including Veeam or similar backup platforms.

  • Understand and support both local/on-premises and cloud-based backup solutions, including backup monitoring, troubleshooting, restoration, and periodic recovery testing.

  • Monitor backup jobs and other critical IT systems and promptly investigate failures or alerts.

  • Maintain accurate records of IT equipment, software licenses, user assignments, and other IT assets.

  • Document technical procedures, system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and solutions for future reference.

  • Work with hardware, software, network, cloud, and service vendors when escalation is required. Proactively work with vendors to close issues independently with minimal guidance from others.

  • Follow company IT security policies and help employees follow security best practices.

  • Identify recurring IT problems and recommend improvements to increase reliability, security, and user productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or another IT-related discipline.

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on professional IT support or system administration experience.

  • Strong hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Windows desktops and laptops.

  • Strong hands-on experience supporting Apple macOS systems.

  • Practical experience administering and troubleshooting, remotely, Linux systems.

  • Experience with data backup and recovery solutions such as Veeam, including both local and cloud-based backup environments.

  • Good understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, networking, and common business applications.

  • Working experience with containers, able to set up and maintain containers.

  • Fluent in Python, PowerShell, Bash scripting languages.

  • Ability to systematically troubleshoot unfamiliar technical problems and determine root causes rather than relying solely on predefined procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and resolve day-to-day IT issues with minimal supervision.

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

  • Comfortable communicating and collaborating directly with employees and IT personnel in the United States.

  • Ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to non-technical users.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple support requests and priorities.

  • Work well under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in several of the following areas would be beneficial:

  • Microsoft 365 administration

  • Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID

  • Endpoint management/MDM tools such as Microsoft Intune, Jamf, or similar platforms

  • Veeam Backup & Replication or Veeam Data Cloud

  • VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms

  • AWS, Microsoft Azure, or other cloud environments

  • VPN and remote-access technologies

  • Network troubleshooting and basic network administration

  • Endpoint security, antivirus, EDR, and vulnerability management

  • Experience creating and administering Jira Service Management sites

  • IT asset and software license management

  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity best practices, including MFA, phishing prevention, least-privilege access, patch management, and data protection

Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, Microsoft, Apple, Linux, Veeam, AWS, or Azure are a plus but are not required.

Working with the U.S. Team

Because this position will work closely with personnel in the United States, the candidate must have excellent English communication skills and be comfortable collaborating across cultures and time zones.

Some flexibility in working hours may occasionally be required for meetings, troubleshooting, or coordination with U.S.-based personnel. Regular overnight or U.S.-shift work is not expected unless specifically agreed upon for the position.
